Optimus Prime RID

>>Toys

I recently received one of the best Transformers I have ever laid my hands upon. The fire convoy Optimus Prime from Transformers: Robots in Disguise. This show was received poorly, and since Optimus is a fire truck, not a semi truck, he too was poorly received.

However, after opening the box and removing the millions of wires holding him down, I knew the common belief that he was subpar was a mistake. Besides being very well molded, this toy is just amazing as far as Transformers go. He has 4 modes straight out of the box, and if you have Ultra Magnus, you can combine them to form Omega Prime, probably the largest Transformer on the modern market.

Another excellent point was flexibility. In his normal mode this toy is amazingly articulate, being able to pull off any number of poses. If I wasn't worried about destroying the joints on it, I'd be playing with this thing like crazy. However, he does loose a lot of this flexibility when he is in his final mode, only being able to slightly move his arms and legs.

The only down side of this toy is that when trying to pose him in his final form, his chest plate/head tend to pop off, and that a lot of the transforming consists of sticking one piece onto another using small pegs. That's not REALLY transforming, so much as it is accessorising. :P Another problem is the voice clips. I inserted batteries into him to hear them, and upon hearing them immediatly removed the batteries. Giving a voice to a toy is horrible thing to do to a kid. It destroys the imagination! Also, the repetative siren sounds quickly become annoying.

All in all, this is a great toy. If you don't have it and are a Transformers fan, you should do your best to get it. Your best bets are ebay and other online auction sites, because I haven't seen this one in stores for a long time, and you're more likely to save money on the $40 price tag by buying them in an auction.

Now.. GO BUY THIS TOY! @_@

Record of Lodoss War

>>Anime

I recently rented the Record of Lodoss War series on DVD at Blockbuster Video. This is an amazing series. At first it seemed a little dull, and over done, acting wise, but by the end of the series I was so engrossed in the story that I was actually nervous about what would happen.

This series has actually touched me in a way that few do. I was hoping Deedlit and Parn would finally be a couple, that the warriors would be able to defeat the witch Carla, that the king of Phalles would be able to defeat his oppenents. It was a great experience as far as anime series goes. It's no wonder this is a classic.

D&D lovers would fall in love with this series too. ^_^
